An In-House Pensions Solicitor opportunity for a pensions lawyer looking to step into a broad, high impact in-house role in Yorkshire. Supporting the General Counsel, this position covers defined benefit and defined contribution matters, disputes, governance, commercial contracts and regulatory change within a specialist workplace pensions business.

Description

  • Supporting the General Counsel in developing and strengthening the legal support function
  • Drafting, reviewing and approving legal documentation to protect the business and maximise legal rights
  • Advising colleagues on occupational pension scheme matters including scheme design changes, disputes and related commercial documentation
  • Embedding robust legal frameworks and legal risk management practices across the business
  • Delivering legal training and supporting the drafting of policies and procedures
  • Managing relationships with external legal advisers to ensure a high standard of support when specialist input is required
  • Advising on the impact of legal and regulatory developments across pensions and governance
  • Supporting the business on wider legal, compliance and governance issues as needed
  • Acting as a visible ambassador for the legal team and the wider business

Profile

  • A solicitor or equivalent with at least 3+ years' PQE
  • Experienced in advising on and drafting defined benefit pension scheme documentation
  • Confident handling pensions related disputes and dispute resolution matters
  • Familiar with pension investments and defined contribution pension schemes
  • Commercially astute with a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory environment
  • Able to advise on commercial contracts and data protection issues
  • Comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders in a collaborative in house environment
  • Keen to contribute to legal training, policy development and continuous improvement across the business
