Description
The In-House Employment Solicitor will be:
* Handing a managable caseload of employment, professional discipline and related matters, with around 65% of the work being contentious and litigation focused
* Provide high quality employment advice and representation to senior leaders, dealing with complex and sensitive employment issues
* Have conduct of employment tribunal and other proceedings, including drafting pleadings, legal documents, preparing cases and providing representation where appropriate
* Advise on professional discipline matters, regulatory issues, settlement agreements and employment contracts
* Work closely with the wider six lawyer legal team, member support colleagues, external solicitors and barristers to deliver an excellent service to members
Profile
The In-House Employment Solicitor should be:
* A solicitor or equivalent with 2+ PQE and strong employment law experience
* Experienced in managing their own employment caseload, ideally with a strong contentious and litigation background
* Confident dealing with employment tribunal matters and complex employment disputes
* Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and clients on sensitive and high value employment issues
* Ideally experienced in professional discipline, regulatory matters or representing professionals
* A confident communicator who can build strong relationships and provide clear, practical and commercially sensible legal advice
* Advocacy experience would be welcomed, although it isn't essential
Job Offer
This is a rare opportunity to move in house without giving up the interesting and contentious side of employment law.
The role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, with the potential for a permanent opportunity thereafter. The package includes:
* £57,000 salary
* 9% employer pension contribution
* 33 days annual leave plus bank holidays
