In this role you will lead tax compliance and advisory activities across Tanzania and selected East African entities within an international Group Tax framework. You will partner with Finance and operations to ensure accurate filings, responsive tax guidance, and robust documentation. The position focuses on corporate and indirect taxes, audits, and transfer pricing, shaping compliant tax processes regionally. You will engage with tax authorities and external advisers to manage risks and opportunities, contributing to regional and Group Tax initiatives. This is a hands-on role in a multinational setting with local execution and global standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate direct and indirect tax compliance across Tanzania and assigned East African entities, ensuring accurate and timely filings and payments.
  • Provide practical tax advice to Finance and operational teams on corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, payroll-related taxes and other local tax matters.
  • Monitor local tax developments, identify potential risks and opportunities, and ensure timely escalation of material matters to Group Tax.
  • Coordinate relationships with tax authorities and external advisers, including tax audits, assessments, information requests and disputes.
  • Maintain robust tax documentation, compliance calendars and reporting, ensuring adherence to local regulations and Group standards.
  • Support the implementation of Group transfer pricing policies, including intercompany transactions, documentation and related tax matters.
  • Contribute to the internalisation and continuous improvement of tax compliance processes, as well as wider regional and Group Tax initiatives.

Key requirements

  • Strong tax background with hands-on Tanzanian taxation experience.
  • Knowledge of corporate and indirect taxes, tax compliance and tax audits.
  • Ability to translate complex tax matters into practical, commercially relevant advice.
  • Experience working closely with finance, business teams, tax authorities and external advisers.
  • Experience operating within an international Group Tax framework.
