With a strong focus on quality, innovation and continuous improvement, the business designs and manufactures specialist products while working with an extensive supply base to support its operations. Job Description As the Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing materials, goods and services while managing a portfolio of suppliers and ensuring requirements are delivered in line with business needs.Key responsibilities will include:Managing a portfolio of suppliers and raising purchase orders based on MRP requirements.Ensuring the on-time delivery of materials and expediting purchase orders where required.Developing strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.Supporting competitive tenders, sourcing activity and commercial improvement projects.Identifying supply chain risks and working with the wider team to mitigate potential disruption.Supporting new supplier onboarding and supplier transitions.Resolving supplier issues relating to delivery, pricing and commercial terms.Supporting New Product Introduction and associated supply chain requirements.Monitoring and reporting supplier performance, KPIs and purchasing data.Identifying opportunities for process and continuous improvement across purchasing activities.The Successful Applicant The successful Buyer will ideally have:Previous experience within a buying, purchasing or supply chain role.Strong experience using MRP/ERP systems within a purchasing environment.Experience managing suppliers and building effective commercial relationships.Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and confidence working with purchasing data.A proactive, commercially minded approach with strong problem-solving skills.Experience within manufacturing, engineering or production would be highly advantageous.CIPS membership/qualification or equivalent experience would be beneficial.What's on OfferOpportunity to join an established manufacturing and engineering business.Varied Buyer position with responsibility across purchasing and supplier management.Exposure to sourcing projects, supplier development and continuous improvement.Opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the wider supply chain and engineering functions.
