A global manufacturer operating in Northamptonshire, England, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to run a department. The role involves sourcing and purchasing all group consumables to achieve bulk purchase prices, thereby reducing costs while maintaining or improving quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source, trial, and procure group consumables that meet sustainability targets with a focus on circular options: recycled, reusable, refillable, and reduced packaging.
- Work with suppliers to provide product carbon footprint data and life cycle data for consumables.
- Liaise with Group Marketing to source, negotiate, and purchase items to achieve best price and quality.
- Manage and control group consumables purchases through Dynamics 365.
- Analyse and agree on the best location for supply of group consumables to reduce lead times and improve efficiency.
- Coordinate with colleagues responsible for consumable purchases to ensure quality standardisation and best practices.
- Source, negotiate, and purchase capital expenditure items such as IT and analytical equipment.
- Negotiate contracts for gas and electricity in the UK.
- Manage consumable stock levels to ensure availability and prevent obsolescence.
- Seek new sources for consumable and capital items.
- Attend trade shows and exhibitions to meet potential suppliers.
- Produce quarterly purchasing reports detailing spend and savings.
Successful applicants will have:
- Proven experience in a Purchasing role, ideally in a leadership position.
