This Payroll Manager role based in Wantage is all about ensuring smooth and accurate payroll operations.

You'll handle the day-to-day processing of payroll, manage a small and friendly team, and help the wider accounting and finance team stay on top of payments and compliance.

  • End-to-end Payroll experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and regulations.
  • Oversea all Payroll processing activities.
  • Take ownership of payroll accounting activities, including payroll journals, balance sheet reconciliations and control account management, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the accounting and finance department on payroll-related matters.
  • Prepare payroll reports and provide analysis as required.
  • Year-end processes, including tax reporting and reconciliations.
  • Stay updated on changes to payroll laws and practices.
  • Manage a small Payroll team.

A successful Payroll Manager should have

  • Experience in end-to-end payroll within a similar role.
  • Experience of payroll reconciliations, controls and audit processes.
  • Experience delivering payroll improvement and change initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of managing a team is advantageous.
