Description

As a Senior Media Relations Officer you key responsibilities will be (but not limited to):

  • Develop and deliver proactive media strategies to promote key initiatives and campaigns.
  • Act as a key point of contact for reactive media enquiries, providing accurate and timely responses.
  • Draft press releases, briefings, and other media materials to support organisational goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide analysis to inform future communication strategies.
  • Support senior stakeholders with media training and preparation for public appearances.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging and ensure consistency.
  • Manage crisis communications effectively to protect the organisation's reputation.

Profile

The candidate that secures this Senior Media Relations Officer role will be able to evidence:

  • Experience in media relations, including handling press enquiries and drafting media materials in high pressure, high volume setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • Understanding of the civil service communications and associated challenges
  • Track record in managing crisis communications effectively.
  • Confidence in providing media training and advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse media coverage and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Hybrid Role - 3 days on site in London

Job Offer
