Description
The Assistant Accountant duties include:
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating outstanding items.
- Reviewing and allocating high volumes of transactions accurately within the general ledger.
- Assisting with month-end close activities and supporting financial reporting requirements.
- Analysing aged balances and ensuring historic transactions are correctly accounted for.
- Supporting the improvement of finance processes, controls and reporting.
- Working closely with operational and finance stakeholders to resolve queries and drive efficiencies.
- Identifying opportunities to automate and improve existing processes through systems and reporting tools.
- VAT treatment
- Preparing analysis using large data sets to support business decision-making.
Profile
A successful Assistant Accountant should have:
- AAT Level 4 studier/qualified or actively studying CIMA/ACCA.
- Good understanding of general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Understanding of VAT
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP and working with large data sets.
- ERP system knowledge
- Logistics experience desirable, not essential at all.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
