The Multi-Skilled Engineer responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical plant equipment, ensuring optimum performance and minimal downtime. You'll support fault finding, breakdown response, plant upgrades and continuous improvement projects, while working collaboratively to maintain high standards of safety, reliability and operational efficiency.

Description

Keeping the plant running

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Fault finding and resolving issues quickly to reduce downtime
  • Working on a range of plant including pumps, motors, conveyors, fans, filters and mills
  • Improving performance
  • Supporting equipment upgrades, installations and improvement projects
  • Identifying root causes of breakdowns and helping prevent repeat issues
  • Recording work and contributing to continuous improvement

Planning & teamwork

  • Coordinating with supervisors to plan maintenance and shutdown work
  • Making sure parts and resources are available when needed
  • Working collaboratively within a close-knit engineering team
  • Working safely
  • Following Imerys safety standards, permits and procedures
  • Completing risk assessments and maintaining safe working practices
  • Keeping work areas clean, organised and compliant

Profile

Essential

  • Recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC Level 3 or a time-served engineering apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, processing or heavy industrial environment
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills on industrial plant and equipment
  • Experience working with industrial electrical systems including motors, control panels, drives, sensors and associated equipment
  • Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and responding to equipment breakdowns
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of electrical safe isolation procedures and a strong commitment to health and safety
  • Willingness to develop and work across both electrical and mechanical disciplines as part of a cross-skilled engineering team

Highly Desirable

  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment and automated production machinery
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
  • HNC/HND in Electrical, Electrical & Electronic, Manufacturing or Maintenance Engineering
  • Experience with variable speed drives, instrumentation and process control equipment
  • Mobile plant licences (forklift, MEWP, telehandler etc.)
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Confined Space training
  • Experience using CMMS/ERP systems such as SAP

Job Offer

  • Competitive salary up to Β£35,457.87 DOE with additional earning potential (shift, standby & overtime)
  • Location: Cliffe Vale, Stoke-on-Trent
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week
