Description
- Ensure robust financial controls are maintained across the group, regularly reviewing policies, procedures, and reconciliations to support compliance and accuracy.
- Oversee the reconciliation of intercompany balances and assist with group consolidation activities.
- Contribute to a variety of finance projects, including systems development, business acquisitions, integration activities, and process improvement initiatives.
- Partner with the Management Accounts team to prepare the monthly consolidated Balance Sheet, ensuring it is complete, accurate, and supported by timely and well-documented reconciliations.
- Prepare and file VAT returns, together with any other statutory or regulatory submissions required across the group.
- Take responsibility for the preparation of annual statutory accounts for all group entities, including the consolidated financial statements, ensuring compliance with FRS 102 and the implementation of any new accounting requirements.
- Manage the annual external audit process, acting as the key liaison between the business and auditors.
- Provide guidance and support to the Trainee Financial Accountant in the preparation of audit documentation, sample requests, and resolution of audit queries.
- Serve as the principal contact for external tax advisers, supporting corporation tax compliance and ensuring all information is submitted accurately and within required deadlines.
- Undertake additional reporting, analysis, and ad hoc responsibilities as requested by the Financial Controller or Chief Financial Officer.
Profile
A successful Financial Accountant should have:
- ACA or ACCA Qualified.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
