Description
Financial Controls and Assurance
- Review and document existing finance processes and internal controls.
- Develop and coordinate a proportionate programme of financial control and assurance reviews.
- Identify weaknesses and implement practical, risk-based improvements.
- Ensure finance policies and procedures remain current, proportionate and embedded across the organisation.
Management Accounts and Financial Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including budget variance analysis, year-end forecasts and clear narrative reporting for finance and non-finance audiences.
- Continually improve and automate management accounting and reporting processes where appropriate.
- Produce and maintain cash-flow forecasts and monitor organisational liquidity.
- Develop dashboards, analysis and financial insight using Excel, Power BI and other appropriate digital tools.
- Support year-end financial reporting and external audit requirements.
Profile
A successful Management Accountant;
- Able to consider qualified, part qualified or QBE candidates
- Strong preference to NHS, Care, Education or general Public Sector backgrounds
- Strong management accounting experience, including monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, balance sheet management and reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting and financial systems.
- Ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate it clearly to non finance colleagues and senior leaders.
- Experience of improving financial processes and an interest in using technology and automation to improve efficiency and insight.
Job Offer
- Salary is dependent on experience but is up to £57k
- Permanent position within the Public Sector
