Credit Control Team Leader
Location: Blackburn
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days WFH
Client Details
As Credit Control Team Leader, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day credit control operation, ensuring outstanding debts are managed effectively and customer accounts are kept within agreed terms.
You'll lead and support a team of credit controllers, monitor performance and work closely with internal departments and customers to resolve queries and minimise overdue debt.
Description
The key responsibilities of a Credit Control Team Leader:
- Leading, motivating and developing the credit control team
- Managing the day-to-day credit control function
- Monitoring aged debt and ensuring outstanding balances are actively pursued
- Setting and monitoring team KPIs and performance targets
- Reviewing customer accounts and credit limits
- Handling escalated customer queries and complex debt issues
- Working closely with sales, finance and other departments to resolve account queries
- Producing regular aged debt and performance reports
- Identifying opportunities to improve credit control processes and procedures
- Supporting cash collection and maintaining strong cash flow
- Ensuring appropriate credit control procedures and controls are followed
- Providing regular updates and reporting to senior management
Profile
A successful Credit Control Team Leader will have:
- Previous experience in credit control, ideally at a senior or supervisory level - essential
- Experience managing, mentoring or developing a team
- Strong knowledge of credit control and debt collection processes
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- A confident and professional approach when dealing with customers
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to analyse aged debt and identify areas requiring action
- Good Excel skills
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider finance team
