This is a really exciting opportunity for a technical Electrical Shift Engineer to carry out electrical maintenance and fault-finding on production machinery. The role requires strong electrical expertise, the ability to work safely and independently, and ideally some mechanical knowledge.

Our client is a UK-based manufacturer specialising in home products, supplying large volumes to major retailers. The company operates large-scale production facilities, focusing on efficient manufacturing, quality control, and continuous improvement in its processes.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design, upgrade, and rebuild electrical systems throughout the machine lifecycle.
  • Design, improve, and maintain 3-phase motor control systems, including start/stop functions, variable speed drives, and directional control using AC/DC inverters.
  • Quickly identify and resolve electrical faults using structured root cause analysis across systems.
  • Configure and maintain inline metal detection systems and support a range of industrial printing equipment.
  • Set up, commission, and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters to support efficient process control.
  • Develop and enhance modular PLC programs to drive process improvements, following best practices in structured programming and documentation.
  • Keep electrical drawings, panel layouts, and system documentation accurate and up to date to ensure compliance and traceability.
  • Manage workload across multiple projects, balancing urgent breakdown response with ongoing improvement and upgrade initiatives.

Profile:

  • HNC (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in the FMCG or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and automated machinery is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with health and safety standards in an engineering environment.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork.

Job Offer:

  • Hours: Shifts 6:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00, 22:00-06:00 1 week rotation.
  • Salary: £42-45k.
