This is a hands-on HSE Advisor role supporting manufacturing operations across multiple sites, with a strong focus on compliance, engagement and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with operational teams while deputising for the HSE Manager and helping embed a positive safety and environmental culture.
The client is a well-established manufacturing business operating within a regulated, safety-critical environment. They place strong emphasis on standards, behaviour and accountability, with HSE embedded into day-to-day operations rather than treated as a tick-box function.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the HSE Manager in maintaining and improving ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems
- Conduct internal HSE audits and oversee corrective and preventive actions
- Deliver toolbox talks and day-to-day HSE guidance to shop-floor and office-based staff
- Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause and actions
- Produce HSE statistics, reports, newsletters and safety communications
- Challenge unsafe behaviours and practices in a pragmatic, professional manner
- Support waste management activities and environmental initiatives
- Review, implement and maintain policies, procedures and safe systems of work
- Assist with and review risk assessments and method statements
- Maintain inspection records and produce improvement-focused reports
- Keep up to date with HSE legislation and industry developments
- Manage the safe handling and disposal of hazardous substances
- Advise on specialist areas such as COSHH, fire safety, machinery guarding, noise and occupational health
The successful candidate:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an HSE role within a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation
- Experience with COSHH assessments, risk assessments and method statements
- Confident delivering toolbox talks and supporting behavioural safety initiatives
- Experience supporting or facilitating internal and external audits
- Organised, proactive and comfortable working on site with operational teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams
