An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated CAD Design Engineer to join a large, well-respected organisation within the Industrial / Manufacturing industry, located in Birmingham. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of manufacturing principles.

Client Details: This large organisation is a leading player in the industrial and manufacturing sector. With a dedicated team of professionals, they are renowned for their quality products and commitment to innovation. Based in Birmingham, the company offers a supportive work environment that encourages growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing highly detailed and manufacturing drawings inline with BS8888 using Solidworks, whilst maintaining MRP systems and PDM, ensuring high levels of accuracy and data.
  • Develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Define and apply appropriate Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Represent Engineering in meetings when required, taking full responsibility for any Engineering commitments that have been agreed.
  • Ensure process and procedures are carried out across the whole team through internal audits.
  • Introducing and maintaining Engineering processes for technical drawings and validation.
  • Working to project plans, autonomously or with the appropriate project lead.
  • Ensuring continued communication and good relationships with external and internal customers.
  • Liaise with and provide technical support to applications and production.
  • Carrying out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.

Profile: A successful CAD Design Engineer should have:

  • High level of technical drawing abilities in line with BS8888.
  • Sound knowledge of Geometrical, Dimensioning and Tolerancing / limits and fits.
  • Proficient Solidworks user.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
  • Proven experience in CAD role, ideally within regulated industries (e.g., defence, aviation, automotive).
  • Able to produce highly accurate working 2D CAD drawings using 3D modelling and in line with design and manufacturing requirements.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Able to maintain accurate engineering records, drawings, design calculations and files in line with process and procedures.
  • Deliver Results - create momentum and pace to drive results.
