Job Description
Our Client is seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Corporate Legal team, reporting to the Head of Legal.
The Corporate Legal team is currently a team of three people and is part of our wider Legal and Compliance team (eight people) working across Corporate Legal, Information Governance, Assurance and Bids.
This role requires working on-site in London at least three days per week.
The Legal Counsel will support the Corporate Legal team to deliver across all the above areas in the UK and internationally.
This will involve working closely with other teams in the company, such as Finance, Commercial, People, Recruitment as well as interacting with external law firm partners where relevant.
- This role will be pivotal to the team, focusing on corporate legal matters such as:
- Intellectual Property - managing the Organisation's intellectual property portfolio, including trademark watch notices, renewals, recording know how and digital IP assets
- Employment - working with the People team to advise on complex people related and global mobility queries, including complex restrictive covenant matters (relating to both outgoing and incoming senior employees)
- Digital - advising on the commercialisation and licensing arrangements for digital solutions created for clients, including AI governance
- Corporate Governance and Company Secretarial - advising on corporate governance matters arising from the Organisation's complex group structure and investment arrangements globally.
Dealing with company secretarial tasks such as board minutes, resolutions, statutory filings
- Data Protection - escalation point for complex data protection matters arising either from client projects or our central use of data e. g. intra-group data sharing arrangements
- Share Scheme - administering the legal aspects of our employee equity scheme including issues of shares and buy backs
- Disputes and Litigation - where disputes and/or litigation arise (which could be in an employment or commercial context), advise and coordinate with external counsel where necessary to protect the Organisation's legal position
- The Successful Applicant
The successful applicant will be a lawyer, qualified in the UK or an equivalent Common Law jurisdiction.
They will be likely to have between 0 and 2 years of PQE.
They will have training from a Chambers Ranked law firm and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Intellectual property
- Corporate
- IP
- Employment
- Data and IT.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer to move in-house and to develop into a generalist.
