NUGENT are seeking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our Estimating department. You will be a motivated and reliable individual who brings enthusiasm and positivity to the team and you should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. This role can be based either in our Pomeroy or Belfast Office, depending on experience and candidates' location (travel may be required to our other offices from time to time).
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for detailed mechanical take offs for a variety of projects from high level cost plans / budgets, design & build & fully designed.
- Taking tenders through from arrival in the company to the effective handover to our contracts team when the project is secured.
- Liaise and communicate with Sub-Contractors, Vendors and Suppliers to prepare tenders in a timely manner.
- Understand and analyse mechanical drawings and schematics to establish the right price.
- Take an active role in preparing commercial quantified schedules of rates / tender summary information.
- Identify valued engineering options and any risks during the tender bid period.
- Build relationships with our customers to promote repeat business.
- Excellent attention to detail & communication skills.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Essential: Time served plumber (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or proven industry experience.
- Be able to demonstrate a comprehensive mechanical technical knowledge.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated, with a can-do approach to work and willingness to learn and assist.
- Organised and disciplined in your planning and approach to work.
- Work well and confidently as part of a team in a busy environment.
Desirable:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient in Trimble (Amtech) Estimating Software or similar.
