We are looking for an experienced Data Business Analyst to join our Data & Analytics function within a leading insurance organisation. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, data teams, and technology functions to understand business needs, define requirements, and support the delivery of high-quality data products and insights.
As a Data Business Analyst, you will play a key role in translating business challenges into clear data requirements and supporting the delivery of data initiatives. You will help bridge the gap between business teams and technical delivery teams, ensuring data solutions are aligned to strategic objectives and deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements for data and analytics initiatives.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, process maps, data requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, Product Owners, and Technology teams.
- Support the delivery of data products, reporting solutions, and analytics capabilities.
- Analyse existing processes, workflows, and data usage to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Assist with data mapping, data lineage, and data quality improvements.
- Support testing, validation, and user acceptance activities.
- Help improve data governance, standards, and ways of working.
- Communicate complex data concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to wider data transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience working as a Data Business Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role.
- Strong experience working on data-focused projects and initiatives.
- Proven ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Experience working with data teams, BI teams, or technology delivery functions.
- Understanding of data modelling concepts, data flows and integrations, reporting and analytics solutions, and data quality principles.
- Experience creating user stories, process documentation, functional requirements, and business cases.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and priorities.
- Experience within insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry.
- Knowledge of the London Market / Lloyd’s insurance environment.
- Experience working with underwriting, claims, broking, or operational data.
- Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI.
- Understanding of SQL and data querying.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data platforms.
- Salary up to £65,000.
