We are seeking a highly experienced Business Analyst with deep expertise in capital markets and trade surveillance to join a critical programme within a leading financial services organisation. This high-visibility role supports regulatory and operational initiatives in the trading space. You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver business solutions that enhance compliance, risk monitoring, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between business and technical teams, gathering, analysing, and documenting requirements for trade surveillance and capital markets projects.
  • Define and maintain functional specifications, process flows, and system requirements in line with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across trading, compliance, risk, and IT teams to ensure solutions meet business and regulatory needs.
  • Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing, and issue resolution to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Support data analysis, reporting, and dashboards to enable efficient trade monitoring and surveillance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation and automation opportunities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • ~10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in capital markets, investment banking, or financial services environments.
  • Strong knowledge of trade surveillance systems, trade monitoring, regulatory reporting, and market compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in gathering requirements, preparing functional specifications, and supporting UAT.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to work across multiple teams and levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills – able to translate complex business requirements into actionable solutions.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and working within hybrid project teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to AML/KYC, MiFID II, FCA, or equivalent regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of trading platforms, market data feeds, and compliance systems.
  • Experience with SQL, data extraction, or reporting tools.
