About us: Michael Dyson Associates Ltd is an established, successful and prominent multi-disciplinary construction consultancy providing a comprehensive range of professional services to the social housing sector. Established in 1980, we have four decades of wide-ranging experience working with clients throughout the UK.
The Role: With a salary up to £25,000 and based at our modern Head Office in Huddersfield, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our Asset Management Team as a Surveying Technician to undertake a variety of challenging and hands-on surveying projects throughout the UK. The role involves the inspection and assessment of residential properties, including Non-Traditional properties and high-rise blocks. The work you will undertake will confirm the constructed form, identify defects and enable our clients to adequately plan property management for the future.
Assessments are usually of an invasive nature and will involve the use of hand & power tools to open up the fabric of a building. This enables the collection of information on the buildings construction and condition to enable the Project Manager to produce reports. You will also be trained in the use of specialist concrete testing equipment to take samples of concrete and undertake on-site testing of structural components. This is an excellent opportunity to specialise in working with buildings of non-standard construction whilst working alongside Chartered Surveyors.
Ideal Candidate: Qualities required for this role will include:
- Full, clean driving licence
- Studying on a construction related course (would consider applicants currently on day release) would be beneficial.
- A can-do attitude and excellent work ethic.
- A drive to succeed in a challenging environment.
- A willingness to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to work throughout the UK. Due to the varied locations of projects, staying away overnight will be required on a regular basis. All hotel costs and expenses are covered, and an overnight allowance is paid for each overnight stay.
We actively encourage and fully support, both financially & professionally, continued professional development, priding ourselves on fully supporting our employees in achieving their career goals and ambitions.
Why join us?
- Be part of a modern, growing, forward-thinking consultancy
- Up to 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
