The Role

As a Ship Broker (Physical & Paper), you will be responsible for originating and executing freight business across the Dry Bulk and/or FFA markets, maintaining and expanding client relationships, and delivering market intelligence to counterparties. You will play a key role in developing the desk, generating revenue and identifying new commercial opportunities across the shipping markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and grow relationships with charterers, owners, operators and trading houses
  • Generate revenue through physical and/or paper freight business
  • Provide clients with timely market intelligence, pricing and freight analysis
  • Execute fixtures and negotiate deals across Dry Bulk and FFA markets
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends
  • Conduct daily price discovery, dissemination and matching
  • Build and expand your own client portfolio and trading network
  • Collaborate with colleagues across desks while maintaining an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Promote the company professionally across the global shipping community
  • Ensure adherence to all compliance, regulatory and risk-management policies

Requirements

  • Proven experience within Physical Dry Cargo and/or FFA broking
  • Strong market knowledge across Shipping, Freight and Commodity markets
  • Existing client relationships and ability to generate business

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Reporting

Report directly to the Desk Head. Escalate material risk events promptly and appropriately.
