The Associate Director of Donor Engagement plans and executes individualized stewardship strategies that deepen relationships between Miami University and its donors. This role strengthens fundraising outcomes by delivering personalized engagement for major gift donors, demonstrating the impact of their philanthropy, and building donor confidence that their gifts are meaningful, well-stewarded investments. The Associate Director collaborates closely with development staff and campus partners who steward donor relationships, and this position serves as an integral member of the Stewardship and Donor Relations team, reporting to the Senior Director of Donor Relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate proactively with development officers to design and implement individualized stewardship plans that strengthen relationships with major gift donors.
- Manage and maintain systems to track planned, in-progress, and completed stewardship activities to ensure timely, strategic donor engagement.
- Partner with development officers to coordinate campus visits for donors and timely and effective follow-up after donor meetings.
- Provide constituent stewardship support for one or more university divisions, including collecting impact statements, providing stewardship reports for the departments to write their own acknowledgements, and providing other stewardship support as needed.
- Support donor-named spaces and recognition efforts, including maintaining the named spaces database and GiftMap, overseeing campus naming audits, supporting ribbon-cutting events, and conducting research related to naming opportunities.
- Manage the university’s memorial bench and tree program.
- Coordinate events for the Prodesse Society, including planning an annual event during Alumni Weekend.
- Provide support for campus partners during #MoveInMiami in coordination with the Annual Giving Office, including communications for the event, providing a training prior to the event, and on-call support during the event. This includes monitoring progress, communicating about gifts received and other support as needed.
- Serve as a liaison to UA and campus partners seeking to utilize ThankView and manage ThankView user access.
- Contribute to additional donor engagement initiatives and support the Stewardship and Donor Relations team as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in donor relations, development, hospitality, or customer service.
- Experience working collaboratively in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
