The Assistant Director serves as a central staff member for the Office of Residence Life and provides guidance, direction, and support for the overall mission, vision, and goals of the residential program at Miami. This person is responsible for the supervision of 6 – 12 live-in staff members.

Essential Duties

  • Supervise, train and evaluate full-time masters’ level and part-time graduate level professional staff members (40%)
  • Assume leadership of one of these departmental initiatives: Resident Assistant Recruitment & Selection, Student Leadership Development, Resident Assistant Training and Development, Second Year Programs, Student Academic Support, or Professional Staff Training and Development or other departmental initiatives (25%)
  • Manage crises and serious incidents in collaboration with supervisees, Resident Assistants, other central staff members, and university resources (15%)
  • Teach departmental or divisional related courses (10%)
  • Assist with University, divisional, and departmental student retention initiatives (10%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Human Development or related field
  • 3 years of experience in a related field
  • 1 year of post Master’s Residence Life experience
