We are supporting a specialist motor insurer in the appointment of an Underwriter to join their growing team. The Role
You will support Senior Underwriters in delivering underwriting strategy across a range of motor products, working closely with brokers and internal teams to drive profitable growth. The position combines hands-on underwriting, broker interaction, and exposure to pricing and portfolio performance, making it ideal for someone looking to develop into a more senior or strategic role over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and existing business in line with underwriting appetite and strategy
- Support portfolio performance through analysis of results and identification of trends
- Work closely with brokers to build and maintain strong trading relationships
- Provide input into pricing and underwriting decisions to support profitability
- Assist in the development and refinement of underwriting appetite
- Act as a referral point for less experienced team members where appropriate
- Collaborate with Pricing, Product, and Operations teams
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal governance standards
About You
- Experience within motor underwriting, ideally fleet, commercial, or specialist lines (Bespoke, Prestige - non standard Motor Product highly desirable)
- Understanding of underwriting principles, risk selection, and pricing fundamentals
- Strong commercial awareness and interest in market dynamics
- Comfortable working with data and performance insights
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with brokers
- Keen to develop into a more senior underwriting or portfolio-focused role
