Candidates must be based in the UK with a full right to work (Preferably within commuting distance to London). We are supporting a growing, purpose-led organisation with the appointment of a senior finance leader to take ownership of its UK finance function and provide financial oversight across a portfolio of substantial grant-funded programmes. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical accounting, statutory responsibility, team management and senior stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the integrity of the UK entity’s financial records, month-end and year-end close.
- Lead statutory reporting, annual accounts and external audit.
- Act as the senior technical lead for UK charity accounting, including FRS 102, Charities SORP and restricted funds.
- Oversee management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and financial controls.
- Provide financial oversight across a portfolio of grant-funded programmes and projects.
- Advise senior stakeholders on funding arrangements, accounting treatment and financial performance.
- Lead and develop a UK finance team.
- Improve systems, reporting and controls as the organisation continues to grow.
- Build strong relationships with programme leaders and external stakeholders.
About you:
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Significant post-qualified finance experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK charity accounting and Charities SORP.
- Experience preparing or reviewing statutory accounts and leading audit.
- Experience within a sizeable charity, foundation, grantmaking organisation, international NGO or professional services environment supporting not-for-profit clients.
- Strong knowledge of restricted funds, grants and project/programme accounting.
- Experience leading a finance team.
- The credibility and communication skills to manage senior stakeholder relationships.
- Strong systems, Excel and process-improvement capability.
