We are looking for a Craftsperson Plumber to join our Infrastructure and Laboratory Services Function within the Corporate group. This full‑time permanent role will be based onsite at our Science Campus in South Mimms, Hertfordshire. The role is restricted to work within the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide plumbing and other mechanical maintenance, ensuring equipment and facilities are fit for purpose at all times for use by Science, Research & Innovation (S,R&I).
- Coordinate and complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) for plumbing and mechanical plant and equipment.
- Supervise, brief and liaise with external contractors, ensuring adherence to site rules and safe work protocols.
- Investigate and respond to faults, breakdowns and unscheduled tasks on a priority basis, analyzing situations and proposing solutions to keep the site operating safely 24/7.
- Provide out‑of‑hours cover to Infrastructure and Laboratory Services teams on a rota basis, making informed decisions and taking necessary actions to maintain safety.
Qualifications
- In‑depth knowledge of building services or maintenance planned preventative maintenance processes in a science‑based, medical or laboratory environment.
- Extensive documented experience in maintaining plumbing and mechanical equipment, typically achieved through substantial experience in a similar role.
- Successful completion of a registered engineering apprenticeship with at least NVQ Level 2 or BTEC in plumbing or equivalent.
- Strong plumbing skills, knowledge and experience of working in accordance with current regulations, including risk assessments and method statements.
