Overview
We are seeking a technically rigorous Freelance Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading consultancy on a high-stakes contract. This role is dedicated to delivering sophisticated electrical system designs for high-security public sector facilities, specifically within Her Majesty's Prison (HMP) environments. In this capacity, you will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical infrastructure meets the stringent reliability, safety, and compliance standards required for critical national infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design: Lead the design and specification of complex electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and security-integrated electrical services.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure all designs strictly adhere to UK building regulations, British Standards (BS 7671), and specific MOJ (Ministry of Justice) technical standards.
- Project Delivery: Produce high-quality technical drawings, calculations (using industry-standard software), and specifications from feasibility through to detailed design stages.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams and public sector stakeholders to ensure designs meet the operational requirements of high-security environments.
