Location: Croydon, London

Job Purpose: As a CAD Technician, you will work independently to create detailed and accurate technical drawings and models for various civil engineering projects, including bridges, civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high‑quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for various civil engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect design requirements.
  • Modify and update drawings as required, incorporating changes and feedback from the design team.
  • Maintain organised records of CAD files, ensuring that all documents are stored and controlled according to company procedures.
  • Carry out administrative functions as required by the Senior Technician.
  • Work to project timelines, budgets, and communicate with Project Managers.

Person Specification:

  • Education: Diploma or certification in CAD Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, progress towards Incorporated or Engineering Technician status.
  • Experience: Typically 3‑5 years of experience as a CAD Technician in a civil engineering consultancy or related field.
  • Awareness of BIM standards and ISO 19650 workflows.
  • Familiarity with databases, cloud‑based collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360/ProjectWise).

Skills:

  • Proficient in using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Revit.
  • Good understanding of civil engineering design principles.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
