The Role
We are seeking a focused and driven Level 3 Motor Vehicle Apprentice.
This role is aimed at someone who has either completed their Level 2, has significant prior experience, or shows exceptional academic and practical capability.
You will move past the basics and dive straight into complex mechanical repairs, advanced fault-finding, and electronic systems while working towards your Level 3 qualification.
- What You’ll Be Doing (Progressing to Independence)
- Complex Repairs: Assisting with and undertaking clutch replacements, cambelts, head gaskets, and steering/alignment geometry.
- Diagnostics: Using advanced scan tools and oscilloscopes to fault-find complex electrical, fuel, and emissions systems.
- System Overhauls: Striking down and repairing engines, gearboxes, and braking systems (ABS/ESP).
- Modern Tech: Getting an introduction to Hybrid and Electric Vehicle (EV) safety and isolation procedures.
- Technical Data: Reading and interpreting manufacturer wiring diagrams and technical data sheets to solve complex issues.
- What We Are Looking For
- Prior Experience: Ideally, you have completed a Level 2 Autocare qualification, or you can demonstrate a strong baseline of mechanical knowledge.
- Analytical Mindset: You enjoy problem-solving and logical troubleshooting, not just swapping parts.
- High Attention to Detail: Modern cars are complex; you must be precise, methodical, and clean in your work.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is highly preferred (or very close to passing) so you can conduct road tests.
- Strong Academics: Good GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science are highly beneficial due to the technical nature of Level 3 electronics.
