Are you an experienced Surveying professional ready to establish and grow a brand-new survey division within a respected environmental and geotechnical consultancy? This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of launching a topographical and utilities mapping service line, backed by the support of a long-standing and reputable business.
You’ll be joining a forward-thinking company with a strong presence in ground investigation, where you will play a pivotal role in building a team and delivering high-quality surveying solutions across the UK.
The Opportunity:
You will take the lead on developing and running a new surveying division from the ground up. This will include setting operational procedures, sourcing equipment and software, identifying market opportunities, and overseeing project delivery.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on leadership position, enjoys autonomy, and is confident managing the technical and commercial aspects of surveying operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage a new topographical and utilities survey service within the company.
- Lead survey activities including setting out, topographical, levelling methods.
- Oversee team development, including recruitment of surveyors, graduates, and apprentices over time.
- Liaise with clients across public and private sectors, from quote to project delivery.
- Ensure technical standards, health & safety, and best practices are embedded in all survey activities.
- Produce technical documentation and contribute to business development strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in land and utility surveying, with a strong technical foundation.
- Working knowledge of survey tools, such as LSS, MBS and AutoCAD.
- Able to manage projects from enquiry through to delivery.
- Comfortable working with a range of stakeholders including contractors, clients, and public sector representatives.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to operate independently and grow a team.
- Relevant qualifications and/or membership of professional bodies (e.g., RICS) are desirable.
