This is a standout opportunity for a highly experienced Site Engineer to take full ownership of a major rail infrastructure redevelopment project. The scheme involves the complete refurbishment and reconfiguration of a busy transport hub and is expected to run for approximately two years.
This is not a role where you'll be one of many site engineers on-site - you will be the key technical lead, responsible for overseeing the project from initial surveys through to final as-built delivery. It's ideally suited to someone confident working independently and capable of managing both the technical and practical demands of a complex build.
The Role
You will be involved across the full lifecycle of the project, including early-stage surveying, design coordination, setting out, and final documentation. Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out detailed site surveys at project outset
- Supporting design integration and translating plans into site delivery
- Full setting out responsibilities across all phases of the build
- Managing and coordinating on-site workforce activities
- Acting as the primary engineering point of contact on-site
- Ensuring accuracy, quality control, and adherence to specifications
- Producing and completing as-built surveys and final project records
This role requires someone who can confidently operate without day-to-day supervision and take accountability for delivering engineering excellence throughout.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer on complex infrastructure or rail projects
- Strong background in surveying and setting out
- Ability to manage a project independently from start to finish
- Solid understanding of construction methods, design interpretation, and QA processes
- Experience coordinating site teams and subcontractors
- CSCS card and full UK driving licence
Package
- £45,000 - £55,000 salary
- Long-term, stable project (circa 2 years)
- Opportunity to take ownership of a flagship infrastructure scheme
- Clear autonomy and responsibility on-site
