Job Summary:

The Head of FP&A leads the Group’s planning, forecasting and performance insight to support confident and well‐informed decision‐making at both a group-wide and a business segment level. The role strengthens financial understanding across the organisation, ensuring senior leaders receive clear, timely and actionable analysis. As an Integration Leader, the role focuses on ensuring consistent inputs, outputs and analytical standards. This requires managing a team of six people, with additional support in India, developing the team’s ways of working, and embedding process improvements. It involves strong collaboration with a wide range of Finance contributors and partnership with the wider business.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Group’s planning and forecasting processes, ensuring consistency and integration across Finance contributors and business areas. Key outputs include the Group’s annual business plan and quarterly forecasts, together with related deliverables for each of our business segments and remuneration forecasts.
  • Work closely with upstream Finance teams to ensure the accuracy, clarity and timeliness of inputs into FP&A processes.
  • Collaborate with the wider business to connect financial analysis with operational priorities, supporting clear, informed and unified decision‐making.
  • Deliver high‐quality financial insight that highlights performance drivers, risks, opportunities and trends in a clear and supportive way.
  • Oversee Group‐level and segment level performance reporting, ensuring outputs are concise, accurate and designed to support confident action.
  • Improve ways of working by simplifying processes, enhancing systems and embedding consistent, repeatable approaches across the team.
  • Build and lead a collaborative FP&A team, encouraging continuous improvement, diligence and active problem‐solving.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Strong understanding of the drivers of M&G Group’s financial performance and an understanding of our strategic priorities. Curiosity and willingness to learn about the business.
  • Ability to integrate inputs from multiple Finance teams and translate them into clear, cohesive financial insight.
  • Expertise in planning, forecasting, modelling and performance analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling clear, engaging and supportive storytelling.
  • Capability to collaborate confidently across functions and build alignment around financial priorities and processes.
  • Experience driving process improvement and embedding efficient, consistent ways of working.
Essential Skills:
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, able to understand business and finance teams’ priorities, perspectives and requirements.
  • Strong analytical capability with a focus on clear, actionable output.
  • Ability to improve processes, embed structure and champion continuous improvement across the team.
  • Effective communication that supports understanding and engagement across diverse stakeholder groups. Able to simplify the story to key messages for a senior audience while maintaining a strong grasp of the detail.
  • Delegation skills within the team and leadership abilities that support collaboration with other teams, especially business partners.
  • Qualified Actuary or Qualified Accountant.
  • Life Insurance industry experience.
Preferred but not Essential Skills:
  • Familiarity with the latest AI developments.
  • With Profits Fund experience.
  • Planning systems expertise – Oracle EPM.
  • Life Insurance infrastructure familiarity – WTW Suite.
  • Asset Management expertise.
