M&G is seeking an accomplished Senior Manager – Corporate Tax Compliance Oversight and Tax Risk Management to play a pivotal role in leading and enhancing our global corporate tax compliance and tax risk management frameworks. This is a high-impact leadership position for a tax professional who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for process innovation and transformation. You will act as a subject matter expert in corporate tax compliance, tax risk governance, and global outsourcing, while driving meaningful improvements across our tax processes, systems, and controls.
Responsibilities:
- Global Corporate Tax Compliance Leadership: Oversee the Group’s corporate tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring full adherence to local and international regulations. Lead coordination with internal teams and external advisors to deliver accurate, timely tax filings. Manage the end-to-end compliance cycle, including reviewing outputs from outsourced providers. Oversee UK quarterly instalment calculations and global tax payment processes. Drive efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement across compliance workflows.
- Tax Advisory & Business Partnering: Provide technical expertise and strategic tax input on key business initiatives, transactions, and operating model changes. Identify opportunities to optimise tax outcomes, including areas such as R&D credits and reliefs. Respond to tax authority queries and audits (UK and international), partnering with advisors where needed. Monitor changes in legislation and ensure readiness for new regulatory requirements.
- Tax Risk & Governance: Act as Tax Risk Champion for the function, owning and evolving the Group’s tax risk management framework. Ensure alignment with M&G’s broader enterprise risk strategy and finance governance standards. Lead the annual refresh of the Tax Strategy and Tax Risk Policy. Provide expert oversight on Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) and Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO) compliance. Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks, ensuring robust controls are embedded.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Deliver clear, insightful reporting on tax compliance and risk to senior leadership and the Board. Maintain comprehensive documentation of tax processes, controls, and risk assessments. Build strong, trusted relationships with HMRC, global tax authorities, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience & Expertise:
- 7–10+ years’ experience in corporate tax compliance and tax risk management, ideally within financial services or a complex multinational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax, with exposure to international tax compliance.
- Proven ability to lead and improve outsourced tax compliance models.
- Demonstrated success managing tax risk frameworks in large, regulated organisations.
Qualifications:
- Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
