The Team

The Insurance Solutions Team was established to leverage M&G’s dual heritage as both a major insurer and global asset manager. The team partners with insurers worldwide to design capital efficient, liability aware investment solutions that align with their regulatory, accounting, and balance sheet objectives. The team sits at the intersection of Distribution, Investment Management, and Insurance Expertise, working closely with investment desks, strategy teams, risk specialists, client relationship managers, and external partners.

The Role

This role strengthens our ability to serve insurance clients through:

  • Traditional insurance solutions expertise – understanding insurer balance sheets, regulations, and investment needs;
  • Product and solution design – helping shape asset‐class‐specific and multi‐asset offerings aligned to insurance metrics;
  • Client engagement and business development – supporting sales activities, RFP responses, and strategic partnership efforts.

The position is ideal for someone who combines insurance domain knowledge, strong analytical acumen, and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

Insurance Client & Market Insights

  • Develop a strong understanding of insurer business models, investment behaviour, and regulatory drivers (e.g., Solvency II, ICS).
  • Maintain and enhance insurance market mapping, including client metrics, strategic priorities, and competitive dynamics.
  • Monitor and summarise developments in insurance investment trends, regulation, and capital frameworks.

Solution Design & Product Development Support

  • Work with investment teams to develop capital‐efficient investment strategies, including public and private credit, matching adjustment‐eligible assets, and multi‐asset solutions.
  • Contribute to strategic asset allocation (SAA) discussions, leveraging insights from internal tools and models.
  • Analysing solvency, liquidity, and accounting implications of proposed investment solutions.
  • Assist in enhancing internal insurance tooling (e.g., insurance database, analytics dashboards).

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Produce high‐quality sales pitch materials, client presentations, and market updates.
  • Support responses to RFPs, due diligence questionnaires, and award submissions.
  • Coordinate with regional sales teams to align on client intelligence and new business opportunities.
  • Participate in industry conferences, events, and thought leadership initiatives.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical mindset and comfort working with data (Excel required; Python familiarity beneficial but not essential).
  • Understanding of investment risk metrics, asset classes, solvency capital drivers, and portfolio construction concepts.
  • Ability to interpret outputs from insurance or investment analytics tools.

Industry & Domain Knowledge:

  • Understanding of insurance balance sheet dynamics, solvency regulation, and capital efficiency concepts.
  • Experience in asset management, insurance, consulting, or risk analytics is helpful.
