The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an Associate Analyst to join M&G’s Corporate Credit Research team. The team, one of the largest and most experienced credit research teams in Europe, provides independent, actionable insights to fund managers in order to aid portfolio construction. This role will be in support of our coverage in the Industrial, Transport and Utility sectors.
An Associate Analyst in the Corporate Credit Research team plays a key role on corporate coverage alongside our Senior Analysts, whilst also developing their own primary analyst skills over time with a view to eventually becoming a Senior Analyst in their own right.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting senior analysts on daily sector coverage & outputs (fundamentals and relative value)
- Developing and maintaining corporate and sectoral financial models
- Monitoring news flow and identifying noteworthy or material information
- Analysis of bond and loan documentation
- Providing back up coverage for senior analysts
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with fund managers
- Developing primary analyst skills over time, with the potential to take on personal responsibility for a smaller sector or sub-sectors and progression to senior analyst role thereafter
- Representing team in investment group strategic projects
- Support team with research management systems (RMS) and related data
- Use programming and business analytics to streamline workflows and improve team productivity
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Experience in Credit Analysis/Fixed Income/Accounting
- Sector experience in Industrial, Transport and Utilities
- Progression towards the CFA or Accountancy qualifications desirable
- Knowledge and experience of bond and loan documentation desirable
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrable interest in investments and wider economic & political events
- Proactive and adaptable problem solver who is self-motivated
- Highly organised and able to thrive in a time-pressured role
- Able to work independently but collaborate both within and across teams
- Proven numerical skills, analytical curiosity and rigorous attention to detail
- Good technical skills: intermediate knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., VBA, Python, Java, C#, SQL etc.) to support data analysis, automation and tool development
- Strong Excel skills and ideally proficient in Bloomberg
- Strong academic track record
