The Senior Digital Product Owner plays a pivotal role within the Digital Proposition team and is accountable for shaping, delivering, and continuously improving digital journeys across a defined product domain. This is an opportunity to influence how customers and advisers experience key moments across their financial journeys, delivering meaningful improvements that are measurable, visible, and valued across the organisation.

The role combines strategic thinking with end-to-end ownership, providing oversight from discovery through to the delivery of measurable outcomes. Building on core Product Owner responsibilities, this role looks further ahead, ensuring that digital changes are supported by well-planned discovery, robust evidence, and clear feature-level measures before design or development begin.

In addition, the Senior Digital Product Owner provides oversight across Product Owner activity within their domain, ensuring alignment to team goals, strategic priorities, and agreed OKRs, while establishing best practice ways of working and promoting outcome-driven delivery. The role also plays a key part in building a high-performing Product Owner community, coaching and developing others to strengthen capability and support continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and shape a 12-month rolling roadmap, with clear accountability for direction, prioritisation, and outcomes across the product domain.
  • Lead forward planning, ensuring discovery, research, customer testing, and operational and feasibility assessments are organised ahead of delivery.
  • Ensure key success criteria and measures are established early, enabling evidence-based prioritisation and measurement of impact.
  • Drive end-to-end discovery phases using data, insight, and stakeholder input to validate problems and define opportunities.
  • Collaborate across engineering, UX, operations, data, and risk teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and compliant digital journeys.
  • Drive continuous improvement through performance analytics, experimentation, and customer and adviser feedback.
  • Represent the Digital Propositions team in governance and prioritisation forums, clearly communicating progress, risks, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Provide oversight across Product Owner activity, ensuring alignment to team goals, strategic priorities, and OKRs.
  • Work with the Digital Propositions leadership team to establish standards for Product Owner ways of working, ensuring consistency, quality, and effective delivery, and ensure these standards are upheld in your domain.
  • Enable decision-making across Product Owners, ensuring work contributes to measurable outcomes and broader product strategy.
  • Coach and develop Product Owners, building a high-performing team and strengthening capability across discovery, delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and shared learning.

  • Strong leadership and coaching capability, with a track record of developing Product Owners and elevating team performance.
  • Ability to set and uphold standards, ensuring consistent application of best practice across multiple Product Owners.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Essential
  • Strong experience in digital product ownership within financial services or similar heavily-regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to deliver measurable improvements to digital servicing journeys.
  • Strong understanding of digital and legacy servicing models and operational impacts.
  • Experience working with regulatory frameworks, including Consumer Duty or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive forward discovery, plan ahead, and apply evidence to decision-making.
  • Desirable
  • Experience in proposition development or digital transformation.
  • Understanding of UK life and pensions servicing models.

Location: Edinburgh or Stirling - This is a Hybrid role working 2-3 days a week in the office.
