We have an exciting opportunity in the South East. The expanding Regional Engineering Team are recruiting for an ambitious experienced Engineer. As a Regional Engineer, you will play a vital role in bridging the engineering and commercial functions of the business. Your primary responsibilities will include developing business relationships, attending client meetings, overseeing and managing key projects, delivering presentations to customers, and preparing or reviewing temporary works designs. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to major frameworks and projects across a range of sectors, including HS2 and AMP8.

We are committed to the ongoing development of temporary works methods and best practices, playing a leading role in industry bodies such as the Temporary Works Forum (TWf) and the Shoring Technology Interest Group (STIG). Additionally, we actively promote temporary works awareness through our collaboration with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Main Responsibilities

  • Acting as a key link between engineering and commercial functions
  • Providing engineering advice and guidance during site and office meetings
  • Developing a strong understanding of the region's sectors, including contractors, locations, and offices
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key customers and stakeholders
  • Identifying and establishing new relationships as required
  • Delivering presentations in various formats (both in-person and virtual)
  • Producing temporary works designs and associated drawings
  • Reviewing and checking temporary works designs and drawings for accuracy and compliance
  • Enhancing MGF brand awareness and raising your professional profile within the region
  • Learning and effectively using MGF's internal systems
  • Actively contributing to regional sales meetings
  • Participating in Regional Engineering and Design meetings as needed
  • Supporting other areas of the business where value can be added
  • Engaging in broader business activities, such as framework agreements, CPD accreditation, and health & safety initiatives

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing temporary works, with a particular focus on excavation support. You should be ambitious, self-motivated, and capable of working independently. As part of a dynamic team of six engineers, you will be contributing to an environment that values innovation, sustainability and continuous development.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum BSc or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Approximately 2-3 years of experience in temporary works
  • Proven ability to apply engineering knowledge and experience to temporary works solutions
  • Willingness to exercise engineering judgment and take responsibility for decisions
  • Solid understanding of relevant legislation, including CDM 2015
  • Working knowledge of design software (e.g., Support IT, CAD, PWS)
  • Experience with CAD and/or Revit
  • Professional demeanour with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The ideal candidate will be close to achieving, or already hold, a minimum of Incorporated Engineer (IEng) professional recognition with the ICE or IStructE. MGF operates an ICE Company Approved Training Scheme and has an excellent track record of supporting engineering staff in achieving professional qualifications. Therefore, a strong commitment to pursuing professional accreditation from the outset is essential.

The successful candidate will operate from a London based MGF depot (Tring or Dartford). You will be provided with training and a network of individuals to advise including design, commercial, operations and supporting Head Office functions.
