The Senior Data Architect is responsible for defining, governing and evolving the organisation’s data architecture to enable trusted, well‑designed and well‑managed data assets. The role ensures that data architecture aligns with business strategy, regulatory obligations and technology standards, supporting analytics, operational reporting and advanced use cases such as Machine Learning and Agentic AI. The Data Architect will act as a technical leader, shaping architectural direction and supporting delivery teams to design solutions that are scalable, secure and fit for purpose within a Financial Services environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise, domain and solution‑level data architecture aligned to business and technology strategies.
- Design logical and physical data models that support operational, analytical and AI use cases.
- Establish and maintain data architecture standards, principles, patterns and reference architectures.
- Provide architectural oversight and guidance to delivery teams, ensuring designs are consistent with agreed standards and regulatory expectations.
- Collaborate with business, data, analytics, security and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions.
- Support data governance, metadata management, data quality and lineage capabilities across the data landscape.
- Contribute to architectural roadmaps and investment planning, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term sustainability.
- Review and assure data designs to ensure security, resilience, performance and regulatory compliance, particularly within the Financial Services sector.
- Mentor colleagues and promote good data architecture practices across teams.
Key Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Strong knowledge of core data architecture concepts, including data modelling, data platforms and information management.
- Experience designing data solutions that support analytics, reporting and Machine Learning workloads.
- Understanding of how trusted data is woven into agentic solutions.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management and data lineage.
- Experience working within the Financial Services sector, with awareness of regulatory and risk considerations affecting data design.
- Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
