The Role: Optimisation Senior Specialist is an experienced role within the FC Screening & Monitoring Shared Service with the responsibility to improve the performance, efficiency and effectiveness of in-scope screening systems used by the team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing analysis of in-scope screening systems, processes and available data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and propose solutions to optimise system performance, including process improvements, automation and technology upgrades.
  • Manage & provide guidance in end-to-end screening process, inclusive of review of internal tool controls, test environments and its effectiveness.
  • Calibrate screening systems to effectively screen for in-scope sanctions watchlists, PEPs, and their associates, considering risk levels and due diligence requirements.
  • Ensure screening systems are regularly updated with the latest sanctions lists from relevant authorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement system solutions and changes, including defining system requirements and testing plans, to ensure minimal disruption and effective integration of changes.
  • Proactively identify and recommend ongoing improvements to maintain and enhance system efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct & provide support in Independent 3rd party testing of screening tool to evidence screening tool effectiveness & fit for purpose.
  • Develop working relationships with Screening tool vendor - Lexis Nexis Bridger, Data Feed provider World Compliance and Dow Jones, TCS Support Management Team, Swift Filter Testing team and others to effectively manage screening tool and its effectiveness.
  • Conduct system calibration impact assessments to forecast where screening team FTE changes may be required.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and optimisation techniques.
  • Support transition of legacy books from AML rule & guidance inclusive of screening and adverse media perspective.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with financial crime screening systems, Lexis Bridger, World Check, Factiva, and others.
  • Experience with calibrating screening systems, including adjusting thresholds, refining rules, and conducting scenario testing.
  • Ability to identify and analyse complex screening issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Excellent partnership and stakeholder management skills as well as build strong relationships and work collaboratively with teams across the business.
  • Understanding of sanctions regulations, PEP lists, and other relevant compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of screening activities, including sanctions, PEP and adverse media and risk associated with screening requirements.
  • Sound communication skills and ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders within the team.
  • Experience of liaising, influencing and negotiating effectively with all internal and external parties/stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and regulatory expectations specific to the business.
  • Sound organisational and coordination capability to deliver and embed change management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnership with business partners and clients when required.
  • Good knowledge of industry best practice, good networks/links with external bodies and individuals.
  • Understanding of KYC/AML regulations and best practices.
