The role is in the Accounting Technical Advisory team, within Investment Accounting Services. The team manages third-party suppliers related to fund accounting, covering net asset values, financial reporting, and regulatory disclosures for M&G’s UK, Luxembourg, and Irish UCITs and AIFs. These funds are sold and invested globally across various asset classes including debt, equity, derivatives, and other funds. The role involves providing technical and accounting advice for M&G’s funds across all jurisdictions, supporting fund-related change activities, and acting as an SME in fund accounting. Specifically, to assist with increased demand, particularly within private markets, for fund launches, closures, mergers, and complex transactions within M&G’s fund ranges in the UK, Ireland, and Luxembourg.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing fund accounting technical expertise to support projects focusing on private and alternative assets.
- Preparing accounting papers for complex transactions or new asset classes to ensure correct accounting treatment.
- Offering technical advice on BAU activities such as NAV oversight, financial reporting, and regulatory disclosures.
- Reviewing and assessing the impact of regulatory and accounting standard changes on NAV production and financial reporting.
- Supporting change initiatives covering: Fund and share class launches, Fund mergers and closures, Introduction of new instruments and markets, Regulatory changes including standards and disclosures like costs and charges.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced fund accountant with strong technical and accounting knowledge, including:
- Fund accounting, NAV production, and financial reporting experience.
- Regulatory knowledge across UK, Luxembourg, Ireland, and other regions.
- Product knowledge of UCITs and AIFs, including various fund structures.
- Knowledge of accounting policies and GAAPs such as UK, Lux, and IFRS.
- Instrument knowledge including equity, debt, and derivatives.
- Experience with fund costs, charges, and regulatory templates.
- Fund set-up experience and project involvement.
Key Skills and Experience Required:
- Fund accounting experience with a focus on private and alternative assets.
- Experience in fund set-up and project work.
- Exposure to diverse fund structures, especially private and alternative assets.
- Technical knowledge of Lux GAAP, IFRS, UK FRS102.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
- Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

- Experience in NAV calculations.
- Strong analytical skills to question and interpret financial data.
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced level desirable).
