Our Paraplanning team takes responsibility for preparing detailed financial planning strategies in line with our clients’ individual objectives. The highest compliance standards are critical and being able to provide context to clients in relation to their advice journey is essential. Our valued support frees up the Financial Planner’s time to focus attention on client‑facing duties. We are a key team within the Sandringham / M&G Advice business, who help support 150+ advising partners within the growing network. Reporting to the Head of Advisory Operations, this role is responsible for leading the Paraplanning unit to deliver individual and team objectives across productivity and quality. This requires a commercial mindset to lead unit goals as well as taking responsibility for processes and procedures with a control environment.
As paraplanning manager, you will develop paraplanners within the team, supporting their objectives in performance and career progression. In addition to leadership responsibilities, as an experienced Paraplanner, you will be able to analyse client’s needs and objectives, developing often complex financial planning strategies as agreed with the Financial Adviser. You will be responsible for compiling the research and suitability for more technical cases areas across investments and pensions, drafting a client‑centric financial planning report to summarise the advice. Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate onboarding and capability development for new and existing paraplanners
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of paraplanning cases, providing feedback and monitoring of quality outcomes
- Manage clear accountabilities and stretching work objectives across the team, recognising successes and following processes to manage performance
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for product and process knowledge, supporting colleagues in resolving complex queries
- Conduct quality analysis and research to arrive at the most suitable outcome for the client, enabling effective judgements on the suitability of client outcomes and supporting documentary evidence, in line with regulatory and internal standards
- Undertake whole of market research on new and existing clients using FE Analytics, Cashflow modelling and our in‑house research tools
- Engage with stakeholders across the business to deliver a great experience for our teams, our Partners and our Clients, managing conflict and using influencing skills where required
- Strong people management for the paraplanning team, with accountability for influencing performance and delivering structured development to improve team and individual capability
- Keep up to date with the latest industry knowledge in order to support advisers and communicate this effectively with the team
- Focus on continual improvement of the service to our customers
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Relevant professional qualification (CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or suitable alternative at Level 4 or above) is essential for the role
- Previous Paraplanning or Advice experience essential
- Detailed knowledge of assessing suitability of complex advice outcomes
- Detailed knowledge of Pension and Investment products is essential to the role
- Working knowledge of Risk, Compliance and Advice in UK financial services
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels
- Excellent interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills to be able to work to multiple competing deadlines
- A good knowledge of private wealth products
