The Business Data Analyst is responsible for understanding business requirements and identifying the data requirements needed to deliver the business outcome. The role involves working with business stakeholders and members of technology and data teams to contribute to the delivery of software that delivers outcomes for the Asset Management business. This is a Fixed Term contract.
Responsibilities:
- Working with business stakeholders, project teams and software delivery teams to establish data requirements as part of technology solutions that deliver a business outcome.
- Supporting the development of Asset Management data capabilities by contributing to the design and delivery of data sets that are approached with a “capability first” mindset and align with Data Governance policy.
- Assess potential data risks, opportunities and business impact.
- Apply overall data strategy in solution design.
- Build strong working relationships with business functions to ensure timely delivery of data that meet the requirements.
- Support the development of data related procedures and guidelines to be at the forefront of best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Being part of a team with a strong sense of product ownership and commitment to build scalable, extensible and robust software.
- Delivering outcomes that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them.
- Developing complete solutions to the end consumer by participating in a cross functional team comprising of requirements gathering, data modelling, data integration, software engineering, testing and release oversight.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Business, Investment Data Services and other teams across Investments Technology & Change.

- Data exploration and analytical skills that enable the identification of patterns and solve new problems.
- Ability to influence the approach to requirements analysis being taken to understand a business problem and the associated data requirements.
- Ability to represent requirements to software delivery team members to facilitate solution discussions.
- Ability to explain complex data scenarios to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to define exception scenarios and understand how they might affect the operating model.
- Ability to investigate and diagnose data issues.
- Excellent attention to detail, focus on delivering work to a high standard, and ability to work efficiently to project deadlines.
- Proactivity manage own workload and work as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables with inter-related dependencies and meet deadlines.
- Good understanding of the components of Investment Data (Transactions, Positions, Instrument T&Cs, etc).
- Good understanding of Data Governance principles.
Experience:
- Business requirements gathering and translation into lower level data requirements for Asset Management initiatives.
- Defining acceptance criteria covering an appropriate range of possible scenarios.
- Working within large delivery programs.
- Facilitating discovery analysis workshops with business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Experience of delivering change using Agile methodologies.
