This role is in the Group Treasury team and is responsible for shaping and executing the group’s funding and liquidity strategy. Working at the centre of the group, the role provides oversight of debt issuance programmes, bank facilities and liquidity resources to ensure the group maintains resilient funding, robust liquidity buffers and effective contingency planning. The position partners closely with Group Finance, Investor Relations, Risk and the Life and Asset Management businesses, and represents the group externally with banks, investors, rating agencies and advisers. It offers broad visibility across the balance sheet and strategic decision‑making, with regular interaction with senior management and Boards, making it an excellent opportunity for a treasury professional to lead funding and liquidity activity in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities for this Role
- Lead the Group Holding Company's funding strategy, including execution and ongoing management of debt issuance programmes and bank facilities.
- Oversee Group liquidity management, including forecasting, stress testing, liquidity buffers and contingency funding planning, with regular reporting to senior management and Boards.
- Maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, rating agencies and advisers, acting as a point of contact on funding, liquidity and capital market matters.
- Partner closely with Group Finance, Risk, Insurance and Asset Management businesses to align funding and liquidity planning with business strategy and regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the investments, funding and hedging of the Group’s treasury function, optimising liquidity pool assets within agreed risk and return parameters.
- Input into group recovery plans and solvent exit / wind down plans.
- Track regulatory developments relevant to the role.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience in corporate or group treasury, with a strong track record in debt capital markets and funding programmes.
- Deep understanding of liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, stress testing and balance sheet optimisation, ideally within an insurance / asset management group.
- Practical experience managing treasury investment portfolios or liquidity pool assets, with a strong grasp of risk, return and governance considerations.
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market and liquidity risks into clear senior‑level insight.
- Proven ability to operate at senior stakeholder level, including interaction with Boards, rating agencies, banks, advisors and external investors.
