About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Designer to join the Content team at M&G, supporting the creation of high-quality presentations, data visualisations, and publications for our investment and marketing teams. This role is ideal for a design graduate or early-career designer (2–3 years’ experience) who enjoys working with numbers, charts, and structured information, and who wants to develop strong data storytelling skills in a regulated, professional environment. You will work closely with the Infographic Lead, collaborating across content, web, analytics, and investment teams to translate complex data into clear, engaging, and on-brand visual outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Presentation & Data Visualisation
    • Design and build PowerPoint presentations, primarily using existing templates, for investment and business stakeholders.
    • Create clear, accurate, and visually engaging charts and data visualisations from provided datasets (mainly Excel-based).
    • Support quarterly and recurring reporting materials, ensuring consistency, clarity, and brand compliance.
    • Apply strong visual hierarchy and layout principles to improve data storytelling and readability.
  • Publications and Special Reports
    • Design layouts for publications, reports, and magazines using InDesign and Illustrator.
    • Create bespoke charts and infographics for print and digital publications.
    • Ensure all work aligns with strict brand guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
    • Work directly with investment teams and content managers to understand design requirements.
    • Collaborate with analytics teams to accurately visualise data.
    • Partner with web and content teams on cross-channel projects.
  • Motion & Multimedia (occasional)
    • Support light video, animation, or motion graphics work where required.
    • Assist with simple animated charts or visual elements (training provided).

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2–3 years’ experience (or strong graduate equivalent) in graphic design.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Experience designing PowerPoint presentations, ideally within templates.
  • Confidence working with Excel-based data to create charts and visuals.
  • A portfolio showing diverse design work, including data visualisation or infographic examples and PowerPoint or presentation design.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Desirable

  • Interest in coding or data tools (e.g. d3, Python).
  • Experience using Flourish for data visualisation.
  • Basic experience with After Effects and/or Premiere Pro, or strong interest in learning.
  • Exposure to financial, corporate, or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with creating charts manually in Illustrator for publications.

Personal Attributes

  • Curious and keen to learn new tools, techniques, and technologies.
  • Comfortable working with data and numbers.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Open to feedback and eager to develop design and data storytelling skills.
  • Comfortable working in a structured, brand-led environment.

What Success Looks Like

Within 6–12 months, you will:

  • Deliver PowerPoint presentations independently and confidently.
  • Produce clearer, more impactful data visualisations and charts.
  • Work more efficiently with faster turnaround times.
  • Be a trusted design partner for content and investment teams.
