This role works within the Stewardship & Integration sub-group of the Treasury and Investment Office ESG & Regulatory team. The role's focus is to carry out investment research and analysis on ESG investment topics, and to integrate ESG considerations into the investment strategy and stewardship of Prudential Assurance Company's invested assets.
Key Responsibilities:- Responsible for carrying out ESG investment research and analysis and embedding ESG stewardship activities for the Investment Office, on behalf of M&G’s life portfolios, covering annuity, with profits and unit-linked business.
- Contribute to and support the formulation of ESG investment strategy for the Investment Office for the same portfolios.
- Monitoring adherence of asset managers and portfolios to the asset owner ESG investment Policy alongside other key stakeholders.
- Supporting the Integration & Stewardship Lead in the governance, oversight, implementation and general support with overall ESG integration & stewardship activities.
- Formulating, managing and embedding ESG and stewardship investment policies and strategy, and ensuring these are governed and agreed appropriately.
- Carrying out ESG due diligence to enable selection, monitoring and oversight of asset managers, and to inform the level of adherence against stewardship and ESG investment policies and strategy.
- Facilitating better implementation of asset managers’ engagement and voting strategy and priorities, with a focus on ESG.
- Compiling ESG-related management information on our asset managers’ ESG activities, with a focus on asset managers’ engagements and integration. This includes producing regular MI for governance committees.
- Reviewing developments in external stewardship and ESG frameworks, including views from the Financial Reporting Council and PRI, and embed these in the Investment Office stewardship and ESG activities.
- Support the compiling of the annual Stewardship Report on behalf of the asset owner entity of M&G plc, in line with the UK Stewardship Code 2020.
- Managing disclosures of ESG and stewardship activities with support from internal stakeholders.
- Assisting and advising functions within the asset owner to integrate and implement ESG and stewardship within their own activities.
- Supervising colleagues and supporting the professional development of more junior team members.
- Knowledge of ESG topics, stewardship frameworks and investment considerations, along with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
- Ability to research potentially unfamiliar topics and translate findings into investment policies and positions in the context of insurance investments.
- A good grasp of all asset classes and their roles in multi-asset and annuity portfolios.
- Comfort in working with and presenting to stakeholders across different functions and knowledge bases.
