We are looking for a Technical Sustainability Reporting Manager to join the Group Sustainability Reporting team to help deliver against upcoming disclosure requirements and lead on operating model development. It’s an exciting time to be involved in this fast‑moving space, with companies coming under growing pressure to disclose more decision‑useful information on their sustainability efforts, and with regulations and disclosure frameworks evolving to allow for reporting in more standardised and comprehensive formats.
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability Reporting, this important role will lead on the analysis of regulatory requirements and establishing a reporting framework that will underpin the overall preparation and delivery of the Group’s future sustainability reporting, in particular against the incoming UK Sustainability Reporting Standards. It will incorporate a broad range of responsibilities through collaboration with various business functions, including facilitation of working groups and preparation of papers for a range of governance committees and forums such as the Group Audit Committee.

Key Responsibilities- Supporting the Head of Sustainability Reporting in the technical analysis of the Group’s external sustainability reporting requirements
- Supporting or leading the delivery of specific ESG disclosure requirements, with a particular focus on UK SRS
- Leading on the design and implementation of an enhanced sustainability reporting framework for M&G that will support effective future reporting processes
- Working collaboratively with various subject matter experts to design ESG disclosures for inclusion in external reporting documents
- Production of papers required for the Group Audit Committee and other governance forums to support the approval and publication of ESG disclosures
- Contribute to the development of a robust control environment for ESG information, taking personal accountability to maintaining and enhancing controls you are responsible for
- Keeping abreast of developments in the ESG disclosure space to ensure all disclosures are in line with latest requirements of various regulatory bodies and emerging best practice
To ensure your success in this role you will be/have:
- Qualified Accountant with relevant PQE and an interest in the development of sustainability reporting, or equivalent deep technical experience in sustainability/ESG reporting.
- Experience of production and delivery of disclosures in a financial services organisation
- Experience of production of board and executive level governance papers and analysis
- Some knowledge of TCFD, SFDR, CSRD, or other ESG reporting frameworks
It is desirable for the candidate to have:
- Some knowledge of industry trends, best practice and developments in sustainability
- Good networks / links with external bodies and individuals in the same field
- Experience in implementing new accounting standards
- Proactive self‑starter who takes ownership, and has a strong track record for delivery
- Ability to communicate effectively and influence effectively with productive, successful relationships with demanding senior stakeholders
- Able to apply logic and problem solving to complex accounting problems
- Highly analytical and skilled problem solver, with a strong commercial mind‑set, and the ability to distil complex ideas or problems into simple and easy‑to‑understand language
- Ability to assess, react quickly and decisively to problems, taking tough decisions where needed or escalating issues as appropriate
- Ability to manage tensions and conflicts to achieve outcomes that work for all parties
