Role Summary
This two-year fixed-term role sits within the Actuarial Modelling & Valuations Capability team within the Actuarial Modelling & Valuations Centre of Excellence. You will lead a multi‑location team responsible for transforming end‑to‑end actuarial valuation process. Applying a balance of actuarial understanding, technology capability and people leadership, you will drive improvements across process design, control frameworks and automation/orchestration using modern tooling, including the extensive use of AI. You will play a key role in shaping how valuation activities operate in future, ensuring that processes are efficient, well‑controlled, transparent and scalable. The role requires confident stewardship of complex work, partnering closely with actuarial, technology and change teams to create sustainable improvements aligned to business needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a distributed team of actuarial and technology specialists, ensuring clarity of purpose, strong collaboration and high performance.
- Oversee the redesign of valuation processes, applying best‑practice process engineering approaches to enhance quality, efficiency and resiliency.
- Strengthen the valuation control environment by identifying risks, implementing robust controls and ensuring that documentation, testing and governance standards are fully met.
- Drive automation and orchestration initiatives, working with technology partners to embed modern tooling and data‑driven solutions into valuation workflows.
- Maintain a clear transformation roadmap, ensuring prioritisation, stakeholder engagement and delivery discipline across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Champion continuous improvement and knowledge‑sharing across the team, encouraging consistent ways of working and alignment to the Centre of Excellence operating model.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across Actuarial, Finance, Risk, Technology and Change to ensure solutions are understood, adopted and measured for impact.

- Strong grounding in actuarial valuation concepts and processes, with the ability to translate complex actuarial requirements into practical operational and technology solutions.
- Proven experience managing mixed actuarial‑technology teams and delivering change in controlled environments.
- Ability to interpret data, assess risks and make balanced decisions using technical judgement and stakeholder insight.
- Skilled at navigating complex, regulated environments while ensuring work is completed to a high standard with appropriate control governance and documentation.
- Clear and confident communicator, able to simplify complexity, influence senior stakeholders and support colleagues through change.
