Role Summary:
M&G are looking for a Programme Manager within the Finance Change team to help achieve some of the key strategic objectives of the group, particularly focused around the implementation of Finance initiatives that are aligned to our Finance priorities. This role will oversee a number of projects within the change portfolio, as well as being directly responsible for the implementation of assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Adherence with the Change Lifecycle and Standards, promoting a strong project governance framework.
- Work closely with stakeholders within Finance and other business functions, where relevant, to define project goals, scope and timelines and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Responsible for the delivery and upward reporting across multiple streams of work.
- Motivate a multi-disciplined team (and/or external) representatives to ensure the project delivers on time and within budget.
- Identify the key risks and issues that the relevant initiatives are running and ensure mitigating/resolution actions are fully considered and managed.
- Work closely with the PMO and other project leads, both within the Finance and across other Change teams and other business areas where necessary, to ensure consistency and alignment of the milestones delivered and any related dependencies.
- Ability to take a hands-on role within the project, working with Finance professionals.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G’s operational risk.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Project, and ideally Programme, management experience within Financial Services with an understanding of different management methodologies, frameworks and tools.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering multiple change projects run in parallel on time and to high quality standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with business units and project teams.
- Strong influence and negotiating skills with an ability to manage a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Strong analytic and proven problem-solving skills with an ability to negotiate pragmatic solutions to meet conflicting business requirements.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills so that key messages are understood.
Key Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience of formal project/ programme reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required with a formal project management qualification (such as PMP, PRINCE 2) desirable.
- At least 10 years experience in project/ programme management, with a focus on the Financial Services industry.
- Experience of developing strong working relationships and coordinating activities across finance and wider business areas.
- A high level understanding of M&G Plc’s strategy, our key products and distribution methods is advantageous.
- Knowledge of UK GAAP, Solvency II and IFRS is desirable.
- Knowledge of financial services reporting, regulatory and legislative frameworks desirable.
