The Marketing Compliance team will safeguard and deliver financial promotions regulatory approvals for our marketing communications activity. They will approve communications and provide regulatory advice for projects. This includes marketing promotional communications and campaign activity across all channels to multiple audiences. The primary objective of the team is to approve compliant marketing communications that fulfil good customer outcomes.
With an inādepth knowledge of marketing regulatory compliance and controls in a digital world, the Lead Marketing Compliance Manager will ensure marketing material is compliant and delivers for customers, providing expert technical and tactical input to stakeholders across the business, building trust, driving solutions and directing resource appropriately. The role is responsible for supporting the Head of Marketing Compliance to implement the marketing compliance control framework within the first line of defence. You will instill regulatory confidence and capability in others, contributing to a strong customer and risk culture.
Key Responsibilities- To provide expert regulatory advice and approvals of marketing and promotional communications, ensuring compliance with applicable policy, legislation, regulation and risk appetite.
- You will evaluate and feed back to colleagues on financial promotions quality, using data and insights.
- To develop standards and guidance for marketing colleagues to aid the creation of materials that are in line with UK regulation and follow internal review and approval processes.
- To take personal accountability to maintain and enhance the controls you are responsible for.
- To engage with Investment Office and Investment Marketing teams that ensure the accurate interpretation of investment objectives and policies in marketing communications, developing and implementing guidelines at a product level where required.
- Ensure appropriate training and competency arrangements are in place for the teams producing marketing communications.
- Provide guidance to the business, working with the 2nd Line Compliance teams on the implementation of legal and regulatory change in relation to marketing communications.
- Evaluate and monitor collective performance to ensure the team is delivering in support of the strategic priorities of the business ā drive efficiency improvements.
- Be confident about making ābalancedā risk based decisions putting customers first, while adhering to M&G plcās risk framework.
- Ensure actions, decisions and processes take account of risk appetite limits and the potential impact on the risk profile of the area, escalating any uncertainties to Senior Management / Risk Function.
- Ensure the team is continuously updating their knowledge of financial promotions requirements, capabilities and skills to achieve ābestāināclassā status and maintain compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Take an active lead in helping each person in the team perform to their best and to understand how their work contributes to the achievement of business success.
- Expert knowledge of financial services regulatory frameworks and business risk management & control frameworks.
- Expert level knowledge of operational marketing risk management in financial services.
- Detailed knowledge of M&Gās products, systems and distribution models.
- Detailed knowledge of the investment, life and pensions sector with expertise in developing marketing risk & compliance frameworks to support growth including acquisitions.
- Detailed knowledge of digital and financial promotions/marketing communications compliance regulatory requirements across a range of products and distribution channels.
- Substantial experience of managing a team and overseeing activities with quality targets and deadlines.
- Significant experience of influencing, and effectively managing complex stakeholder relationships across multiple āthree lines of defenceā business teams.
- Expert level knowledge of industry practice, good network/links with external bodies and individuals in the same field.
- Be seen as a visible and approachable leader who is an agent for change and acts as a role model to others.
- Possess the drive and purpose to deliver business results at pace and to high quality.
- Expert communication skills to influence and persuade senior and executive management on the best course of risk management action.

Location: This role is preferred to be based in our Edinburgh office 2 ā 3 days per week. We will also consider a home based/ remote UK.
