Sitting within the Corporate Affairs and Brand function and specifically responsible for the correct governance of the brand strategy and portfolio of brands, this role reports to the Senior Manager â Brand Strategy, Management and Planning. The role holder is responsible for the effective management of all brand assets, designing and monitoring agreed standards, procedures and processes to enable correct implementation.
The scope of this role includes all M&G and M&Gâowned brands with consideration for any owned subâbrands. The role holder will work in collaboration with the Senior Manager to develop groupâwide frameworks and processes, to enable all users of the brand and brand âassetsâ to apply and use them with accuracy and with the correct understanding.
They will have operational responsibility for the reporting, including liaison with other business areas and external suppliers e.g. CSC/Baker McKenzie in support of the Group Head of Brand and their Senior Manager.
The role holder will work across the business and develop an inâdepth knowledge of the brand strategy and framework; legal and regulatory requirements and processes; and use of developed brand assets across the brand portfolio. Additionally they need to have good awareness of other brand roles within the portfolio including M&G Investments, particularly in markets where multiple M&Gâowned brands and subâbrands operate, to understand the dynamics of the full architecture and which brand is used for what purpose to determine the optimal brand management approach.
Working with other parts of the business they will provide help and guidance, facilitate and manage forums and monitor the effectiveness of processes. They will also be responsible for the creation, management and updating of any governance documentation and records required for compliance, legal or senior stakeholder reporting purposes.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Senior Manager â Brand Strategy, Management and Planning, support the development of a new governance framework
- Help develop, monitor and operate brand governance processes and protocols for the use of brand operations platforms e.g., Frontify and/or adapt and keep the existing digital brand asset management platforms and tools e.g. Aprimo up to date
- Protect brand equity and integrity across the brand portfolio through the evaluation and deployment of appropriate governance and brand management processes
- Responsible for the monitoring of effectiveness of processes and provision of operational support
- Create and manage the calendar of (any required) scheduled brand management and governance forums, oversight and evaluation meetings as well as organise oneâoff workshops and exploratory conversations needed to initiate, develop or agree new governance processes and brand standards (dependent on revised gov model)
- Responsible for triaging all TMLA enquiries and provide consistent oversight to manage through to a clear and communicated outcome (does not necessarily resolve all issues in the case of a complex scenario)
- Responsible for maintaining a record of TMLAs for the M&G Brand (excluding those associated with M&G Investments)
- Responsible for any KCA and annual attestation requirements and monthly RCSA report production
- Responsible for legal record keeping from interactions with external legal partner
- Team admin support and mailbox management (shared with two other brand managers)
Requirements and Experience
- Proven experience in a team within a major brand function, supporting brand management and governance processes and associated communications, managing multiple stakeholders within a corporate environment; preferably with Financial Services or regulated industry experience
- A solid track record in supporting the development of branding support processes and content, governance systems and oversight of brand management platforms for multiple brands
- A clear, engaging communicator with an ability to be able to explain processes in a simplified way to users and stakeholders of all levels. This role needs someone with a positive outlook, who actively likes working with different kinds of people.
- A good collaborative worker with an ability to work with others, including suppliers and strategic partners to help them understand whatâs âtightâ and whatâs âlooseâ in terms of the strategy and the application of the brand assets
- A pragmatic and practical team member with an ability to think creatively and support activities that may not be obviously part of their exact remit
- Can act as a natural brand champion on all elements of the brand strategy and the application of the assets across the business, but has good commercial sense to know when flexibility it important
- Resilient, able to deliver under pressure
- Ability to deal with challenge, regular ambiguity (both external and internal) and help others understand the benefits of longerâterm strategy
- Has an eye for detail and enjoys solving problems, both for the Group Brand Team as well as helping others navigate the guidelines, processes and brand standards, including identifying improvements and areas where compromise can bring a better longâterm positive impact
